Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com -- The West Sulawesi Non-Partisan Community Network (NGO) Network held a public dialogue at Wisma Malaqbi, Jalan Pababari, Karema Village, Mamuju on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
The dialogue with the theme "Enforce Democracy, Keep Election April 17, 2019 Safely, Peacefully and Conducibly" presented speakers, namely, Head of West Sulawesi Kesbangpol, Rahmat Sanusi, Commissioner of KPU Sulbar Division of Law and Enforcement, Farhanuddin and Media Practitioner, Muhammad Ilham.
The participants of the discussion numbered dozens of people from a number of student organizations, survey institutions and journalists.
In his remarks, Chairperson of the NGO Jari Manis, Ashari Rauf said, the activity was intended as an effort to contribute to the creation of quality, safe and peaceful elections, although through discussion literacy activities.
"Some data shows the potential for vulnerability, disturbances and threats in the election is very large. We must involve ourselves in participating in safeguarding this election so that it is not tarnished by violations from a group of people who do not want democracy to grow properly, "Ashari said.
Meanwhile, Head of West Sulawesi Kesbangpol, Rahmat Sanusi, also invited the discussion participants to take part in engaging in monitoring the General Election, especially monitoring the potential vulnerability that could occur in the 5th annual democracy party.
"There are three variables of potential vulnerability, namely the integrity of the organizers in neutrality and the use of authority that needs to be monitored, the potential for vulnerability during logistics distribution, and the potential for money politics," he said in his material.
Rahmat also hopes that this year's election will run cleanly, because the elections are held simultaneously, namely the Presidential Election and Pileg.
Responding to that, Media Practitioners, Muhammad Ilham said that the Press had an important role in realizing peaceful and conducive elections. Where, the media is positioned as a party that also contributes morally to the success of the election.
"In the world of journalism, it is known as the principle of Peace Journalism. How to work as a journalist and fulfill the community's right to obtain quality information. Don't join in being a content spreader that can't be accounted for or hoaxed," said Ilham.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of the West Sulawesi Provincial Election Commission (KPU), Legal Division, Farhanuddin said that the West Sulawesi KPU has so far continued to maximize the preparation of the 2019 Election, mainly voter registration, preparedness of ballots and other Election logistics.
"We hope that all parties can be involved in the success of the election, both from the students, mass media colleagues and the community at large. Hopefully we will not fulfill any obstacles in the implementation of the election this time, "he said.
The discussion was closed with the signing of a joint declaration to safeguard the Election on April 17, 2019 Safely, Peacefully and Conducively by all the participants of the discussion.
