Polewali Mandar, Sulbarkita.com -- Head of Law Enforcement Section of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Sulawesi Region, Subagio acknowledged allegations that illegal timber entrepreneurs in Polewali Mandar were revealed in a trial of illegal logging cases with defendant Abu bin Zuhud alias Puanna Iwan at the Polewali District Court in Thursday, February 6 last. "The information obtained from the facts of the trial is indeed the conclusion," Subagio said when confirmed via his cellphone on Tuesday, January 11.
Nevertheless, Subagio said he could not confirm information from the facts of the trial. He only hoped that all timber entrepreneurs in Polman would complete the documents, especially the Forest Product Legal Certificate (SKSHH). "Timber entrepreneurs must follow the existing rules of the game. Besides, the government has provided entrepreneurs convenience, but don't make it easy to be abused," he said.
Abdul Kadir, Sulbar law practitioner said the problem of illegal logging in Polman must be a serious concern for the authorities. Because Polman has many forest areas that are severely threatened by their ecosystems due to illegal encroachment. "We do not want that when the forest is encroached on by irresponsible people, then the wood is traded," said one of the senior legal aid institutions from West Sulawesi on his cellphone on Tuesday.

According to Kadir, the case that plagued Abu bin Zuhut could be an entry point to uncover illegal logging networks in Polman. "Do not let the defendant Abu only be a projet pilot, meaning he is the only person who is sacrificed while others who have bigger businesses are safe," Kadir said.
