Majene, Sulbarkita.com - The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) urges journalists in West Sulawesi to uphold professionalism in carrying out its journalistic duties. Budi Santoso, one of the AJI coordinators, stated that journalistic professionalism can be applied by working in ethical corridors, laws, and religious norms. "We must have good basic skills in journalistic principles and ethics as well as oralel," said Budi.
Budi is a journalist of LKBN Antara, one of seven testers in AJI Competency Test (UKJ) held at Wisma Yumari Hall, Tulu, Banggae, Majene neighborhood from Friday to Saturday, February 2-3, 2018.
The other six testers are Uslimin (Dawn), Djufri Rachim, Nur Thamzil (East Tribune), Muannas (Celebes TV), Yoseph Ikanubun, (Liputan 6.com), and Ishak Kusran. They tested 16 journalists from various districts in West Sulawesi.
Budi continued, the journalist Sulbar need to improve his journalistic knowledge. Because he did not want the Sulbar reporters stamped obsolete, "Because this profession must follow the age of growing and renewing," he said.
Sariful Alam, one of the competency test participants stated that the activities he participated were very useful to add insight. Especially the work of journalism in accordance with the Press Law and the code of ethics. "With this lesson we can improve professionalism as a journalist," said Sandeq Pos journalist.
From these activities, AJI concluded that 90 percent of West Sulawesi journalists who follow the UKJ deserve to be declared as a competent journalist. But their name will go through the process of finalization of testing by AJI Indonesia and Press Council. (Asr / TSM)
