Majene, Sulbarkita.com -- Agus K, 44 years old, a resident of Batutaku Hamlet, Onang Village, Tubo Sendana Sub-District was originally only a fisherman. But the high level of caring that he had, Agus finally slowly left the profession. That's because He focuses on helping people who need it, especially in the health sector.
Agus, who underwent his humanitarian activities for the past 17 years, felt very happy to take care of poor people who wanted to go to hospital. "If there is a patient who wants to be referred to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Majene, I take recommendations from the village government, then to the sub-district and district," Agus said when met at his residence, Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
Even though he admitted that he was an illiterate alias could not read and write, he was quite good at administering. "I am an illiterate person, but with the limitations that I have, I am always ready to help those who cannot afford to go to the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) to the hospital," he said.
According to Agus, now residents are facilitated by the Health BPJS program, because it can reduce the cost of treatment at the Puskesmas and hospitals. "If we used the recommendations in the past, it is now easier because it uses BPJS Kesehatan and many residents asked me to manage it, at most residents in the Sub-district of Tammerodo Sendana," he said.
There are countless numbers of people who have received Agus' assistance. According to his story, sometimes he drove patients to Majene Hospital and Polewali Mandar Hospital to hospitals in Pare-Pare and Makassar, South Sulawesi Province. "I also accompanied the residents for days to stay in the hospital," he said.
Nevertheless, Agus claimed to be sincere and never expected wages from residents. He even used to borrow money for the treatment of residents in the hospital. "At that time in the Majene General Hospital, there were residents from Parabaya Hamlet, Majene District who wanted treatment. But he had moved the population to become residents of Polewali Mandar Regency, so we could not take care of his recommendation letter. Because he did not have money, I ended up looking for a loan of money worth 700 thousand rupiah to cover his treatment, "Agus said.
Agus seemed tireless in helping people who wanted treatment. He also does not care about time and place. He not only helped the villagers in his village, he helped the residents of the neighboring villages and even outside the sub-district. "Sometimes early in the day I come to help residents," he said.
But it is not without obstacles, Agus in helping people who seek treatment also have a tortuous story. When at Majene Hospital, Agus who took care of the administration had received bad service from the hospital. "I was angry and hit the table at the time and maybe from that basis I was known to many people in the hospital," said Agus.
Between Family Support and Livelihood
Now Agus stops going to sea and prefers to help residents. But he has a wife and seven children whom he must provide for. When confirmed, his wife Hasriani, 44, supported her husband's work. "Since my husband stopped fishing, besides me as an Onang Village official, I also sell fish to support our family. Because I'm sure my husband's work is a noble task, "he said.
Support and motivation also came from the community leaders of Onang Village, Muhammad Ali. "Agus should have received an award from the district or district government, at least in the form of assistance to support his family. Unfortunately the award came only from Onang Village, in the form of incentives, "said Muhammad Ali, who also served as Head of the UPTD, Ulumanda District.
In addition, the Head of the Puskesmas, Tubo Sendana, Nuraeni also expressed his appreciation to Agus for being willing to spend his time helping sick people. "Agus often helps residents in the Puskesmas. And I appreciate that, because He has helped many people, "he said.
