Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com -- The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Sulawesi Province submitted a proposal to increase the budget of Rp 1.2 Billion through Commission I of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of West Sulawesi Province. It aims to meet the needs of West Sulawesi KPU activities during the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) stages simultaneously on 23 September.
"Our budget cannot access all stages (of the elections). We hope that the provincial government can facilitate this, "said the head of KPU Sulbar, Rustang Rasud to the media crew after a coordination meeting with the West Sulawesi DPRD on Jalan Abdul Malik Pattana Endeng, Rangas Village, Simboro District, Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
According to Rustang, his party needs additional budget to carry out its obligations in the democratic party at the district level. "We have obligations at the stages of the elections. "There are many things, for example the implementation of monitoring sessions, nominations and Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for vote counting," he said.
Rustang admitted that the additional budget had been proposed before, but the provincial government said the proposal would be included in the Revised State Budget (APBD). "The government is directing to the APBD Amendment, but it has already passed," he said.
Deputy Chairperson of the West Sulawesi DPRD, Abdul Rahim, welcomed the proposal to increase the budget. But he said, his party would first discuss the addition of the budget with the executive budget team.
"Because the discussion and determination of the regional budget has passed, so of course special considerations are needed," Abdul Rahim told the media crew.
Therefore, Abdul Rahim stated the possibility of a government program being abolished or rationalized. "If it is agreed, this additional budget certainly has consequences for the government's program of activities. For example the elimination of a program that can be delayed temporarily or the rationalization of a program budget," he said.
Abdul Rahim stated that the performance of KPU Sulbar in the elections held in 4 districts was very intense. Therefore, he considered increasing the budget very important. "We see the KPU is very intense in conducting surveillance and evaluation. So it is important to get attention from the provincial government," he said.
In line with Abdul Rahim, Chair of Commission I of West Sulawesi DPRD, Syamsul Samad also responded positively to the proposal to increase the budget of West Sulawesi KPU. But he said the proposal was late and had to be re-coordinated.
"Basically we are here to support the success of activities in the West Sulawesi KPU, if this was proposed about 5 months ago (before the 2020 APBD was determined) there would be no problem because the proposed additional budget is only 0.0 a few percent of the total Sulbar West Sulawesi Regional Budget," said Syamsul Samad .
