Polewali Mandar, Sulbarkita.com — Residents of Wattang Sub-District, Polewali District, Polewali Mandar were made commotion by the discovery of fresh water sources on the shores of Pantai Bahari, Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Residents flocked to the location to witness the natural phenomenon.
From Sulbarkita.com's observation, the fresh water springs were not up to one meter from the beach. The shape is in the form of clear water bubbles that emerge from the sand. Licking the waves does not change the taste of the water to be salty.
Some residents who attended did not hesitate to taste the water. Among them are carrying containers in the form of kettles and used plastic bottles to hold water. "The water is clear like gallon water," said Rais, 40 years old while stating that the water appeared suddenly.
33-year-old Dian believes that the source of fresh water is a blessing given by God to his servant. The confidence of the residents of the Wattang Village was reinforced by the presence of water not far from Al Muttaqin Mosque, "We were very amazed by this spring," he said.
This phenomenon also seized the attention of the local government. Moreover, people do not hesitate to taste the water whose origin is unknown.
Head of the Environmental and Forestry Environment Control and Pollution Division (DLHK) Polman, Muh. Yusuf appealed to the public to be careful. Do not let the water be contaminated with dangerous chemicals. "We will go down to review the location tomorrow (Wednesday November 14)," he said in his office on Tuesday.
Yusuf added that natural phenomena are actually not rare. Because fresh water usually appears on the shoreline because of the tree roots that grow around it. "It's the same as hot water coming out of the bowels of the earth because of the volcano's influence," he said.
Wai Tipalayo PDAM Polman also plans to inspect the spring. Munir, one of the PDAM staff said that there was a PDAM pipeline not far from the location. The PDAM pipeline extends from Tonyaman Village to Battoa Island, passes the sea at Bahari Beach, "We will coordinate the technical team whether it is a PDAM pipeline that is leaking or not?"
