West Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) member Usman Suhuriah led the meeting until late at night. The Golkar Party politician said that the meeting was a pre-election of prospective regional heads in four regencies that would face the elections in West Sulawesi.
"The results of this meeting will be handed over to the leadership to be refined into a selection of prospective candidates," he told Sulbarkita.com after the meeting.
The regulation to elect regional heads in Golkar, Usman said, had approached the finalization stage. The Golkar Central Board (DPP) has issued a Technical Guideline for the selection of prospective regional heads that applies throughout Indonesia.
"We, the board of DPD 1 Golkar, West Sulawesi, are committed, in this process we will be in an orderly and orderly manner. Because Golkar, which is one of the major parties in West Sulawesi, must win the upcoming local elections," he said.
The former Chairperson of the West Sulawesi Election Commission (KPU) hopes that the selection process will prioritize the personal qualifications of prospective candidates. "There are two things that they will pass, namely administrative selection and qualification. That way Golkar will be stronger in West Sulawesi," said Usman.
