Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com -- Chair of the Data and Research Commission, the Press Council, Ahmad Djauhar, warned the mass media in West Sulawesi to immediately file a file for press council verification.
"We have simplified the submission system by using online channels," Ahmad said as he presented the material at the Press Council workshop, at d'Maleo Hotel Mamuju, Thursday, October 10, 2019.
Submitting the verification file is a requirement for a professional mass media company that obeys the press regulations in Indonesia.
"Indonesia is a country that has the most mass media in the world. Don't just say it's easy to become a reporter and then everyone wants to open a press company, "he said.
In his material, Ahmad said, based on a rough calculation by the Press Council, by the end of 2018 there were 43,500 online media from around 47,000 media throughout Indonesia.
"Of that number, as of mid-June 2019, the verified news media were only 3,470 press companies, 364 factual and 1,177 administrative," he said.
Therefore, Ahmad said, the mass media must continue to pay attention to the quality in presenting information in the news. "The news must be based on journalism and a code of ethics," he said.
The Head of the National Directorate for National Development Planning (Bappenas), Dewi Sri Sotijaningsih will call on the local government to cooperate with the media that has been verified by the Press Council.
"We will convey to the Press Council, communicate to the government so that they contract the mass media registered with the Press Council," he said.
Bappenas collaborates with several ministry ministries including the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo).
"In the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology there is a Press Council, moreover in our planning it contains the quality of the press and journalism as well as the standardization of press institutions and journalists," he said.
That was stated in the National Long Term Development Plan (RPJPN) 2005-2025 in the field of communication.
At present, there are eight mass media that have been verified by the Press Council in West Sulawesi. Four of them are print media, 1 broadcast or television media and three others are cyber or online media including Sulbarkita.com which was verified by administration in April 2019.
