Sulbarkita.com, Jakarta -- The Election Guard Association launched the jagapemilu.com platform in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Friday (5/1/24). The jagapemilu.com platform was created to invite the public to oversee an honest, fair and transparent democratic process.
The launch of this platform was attended by a number of figures such as former KPK Commissioner Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, former Deputy Coordinator of BP ICW Luky Djani, Professor of Legal Anthropology, University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Sulistyowati Irianto, Constitutional Law Expert Bivitri Susanti, Founder Gusdurian Alissa Wahid.
Also present were UI Faculty of Social and Political Science psychologist Meuthia Ganie, Public Policy Observer Agus Pambagio, former Chair of the Indonesian Bawaslu Abhan, former Indonesian KPU Commissioner Hadar Nafis Gumay, and Clean Election Observer Eddy Wijaya.
Eddy Wijaya welcomed the launch of the digital platformjagapemilu.com positively. According to him, this is a good thing to ensure that this election can take place honestly, fairly and neutrally. "So that the election process can be safe and conducive. "That's the most important thing," said Eddy after the platform launch event.
However, Eddy appealed to the Election Watch Association to strictly verify its volunteers. Don't let anyone come from certain parties who actually want to commit fraud. "So, in order to be able to operate neutrally, of course everyone who volunteers must be properly verified. "This includes being able to properly screen if there are reports and evidence of fraud uploaded to the jagapemilu.com website," he said.
If the volunteers are not neutral, said Eddy, it is possible that the reports made do not correspond to reality or are fabricated. "So that it corners one of the candidate pairs or other election participants," he said.
According to Eddy, supervision from the community is much more important. This is because the number of personnel from the election organizers is very limited. "I am optimistic that the existence of this platform can encourage elections to run honestly and fairly," he said.
As for the potential for major election fraud and violations, Eddy believes that everything will definitely lead to problems with vote acquisition. "Well, this is what always causes problems, one of which is horizontal conflict between supporters," he explained.
Therefore, he continued, to minimize conflict, he suggested that each candidate pair or contesting party ask their supporters to be calm and not be anarchistic. "All candidate pairs must appeal to voters in a positive way. Don't carry out black campaigns or badmouth other candidate pairs. "Well, whatever the result, whoever the candidate pair wins, it must be accepted with grace," he hoped.
"Including the supporting party, the general chairman must also convey to the supporting community not to be too fanatical, not to cause violence, and whoever wins must be humble," he continued.
Eddy also recalled the experience of the previous election where supporters of President Joko Widodo and supporters of Prabowo Subianto were too fanatical. "There were people who separated from each other, fought with relatives, friends also became enemies. But in the end, Pak Prabowo became Pak Jokowi's minister, they were reunited. "Meanwhile, the warring communities are not getting better," he concluded.
