Polewali Mandar, Sulbarkita.com — The dry season that continues to hit West Sulawesi has its own concerns for the Sulawesi Forest and Land Fire Change Control Center (PPIKHL). The institution which was protected by the Ministry of Forestry then sent a team to monitor the potential for fires in West Sulawesi. "This is a standby effort to deal with forest and land fires," said Ishak Andi Kunna, Head of the Operational Area (Kadaops) of Gowa, South Sulawesi who is also the leader of the team.
Ishak and his team focused on Polewali Mandar because the area was categorized as the largest forest in West Sulawesi. Ishak's team admitted that he saw an increase in the potential for fires, especially in the area of the Forest and Land Management Unit (KPHL) Mappili.
In the Mapilli area, said Ishak, seven posts were built which each personnel took turns monitoring the possibility of potential fire. "We are preparing personnel to work rolling," he said.
Rusman, Head of Forest Protection for Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) in the Sulawesi region expressed his pleasure with the help of personnel from Manggala Agni Daops Gowa. Because their existence not only prevents fires, but also gives their team the knowledge to act if a fire strikes.
"Sharing the most important knowledge," he said while promising to accompany Manggala Agni in monitoring potential fire areas.
